Like most people, I was appalled at the 2011 UK riots and was very impressed with the efforts of ordinary people to help people overcome the difficulties it caused.
In response to this, and as a tribute to both the people in the Second World War and the "Broom Army" of helpers who appeared with brushes and shovels to clear up the damage after the riots, I have written this one-off lesson based on the value and strength of the community.
I hope you enjoy using it in class, and I would be grateful if you could provide feedback if you do find it useful. For even more free lessons exclusive to email list members, click here to join our emailing list.
